High Court Stays Arrest Warrant Against Central PF Commissioner

On April 22 too, the Tribunal had issued an arrest warrant against Joy, but the commissioner (CPFC) got a stay from the Delhi High Court with the undertaking that he would appear before the Tribunal on May 2.

The Employees' Provident Fund Appellate Tribunal has issued a fresh arrest warrant against EPFO's Central Provident Fund Commissioner V P Joy after he failed to appear before it on May 2nd.
The Tribunal yesterday issued the arrest warrant against Joy in a case related to Dentsu Marcom Pvt Ltd's plea against an assessment order passed by one of the Assistant Provident Funds Commissioners.
"Considering all the circumstances of the case, fresh warrant of arrest against CPFC, to be executed by Station House Officer of Preet Vihar police station, New Delhi, be issued duly returnable on May 5, 2016 (after the de-notified date of hearing that is fixed before High Court of Delhi)," the Tribunal said in its order.
The Presiding Officer of the Tribunal, Harish Gupta, said, "It seems that CPFC is playing hide and seek game with this tribunal, which is condemnable in the eyes of the law."
When contacted, Joy declined to comment on the issue stating that the matter is sub judice.
